Rest In Peace Peter Drucker

Peter F. Drucker, a Pioneer in Social and Management Theory, Is Dead at 95

Even if you don't know his name, you know him, especially if you work for a great leader. Drucker's thinking affected us all:

QUOTES

"Effective executives start with their time. 'Know thyself,' the old prescription for wisdom, is almost impossibly difficult for mortal men. But everyone can follow the injunction 'Know thy time' if one wants to, and be well on the road toward contribution and effectiveness. Effective executives do not start with their tasks. They start with their time. And they do not start out with planning. They start by finding out where their time actually goes. Then they attempt to manage their time and to cut back unproductive demands on their time. Finally they consolidate their "discretionary" time into the largest possible continuing units. Action Point for the Day: Find out where your time goes by recording, managing, and consolidating your time. "

"The 21st century will be the century of the social sector organization. The more economy, money, and information become global, the more community will matter. And only the social sector nonprofit organization performs in the community, exploits its opportunities, mobilizes its local resources, solves its problems. The leadership, competence, and management of the social sector nonprofit organization will thus largely determine the values, the vision, the cohesion, and the performance of the 21st century society."
