I was thinking about Willie Nelson this 4th of July. I don’t think there has been a musical artist more all-around cool in my lifetime. Let me explain why I’d like America to be headed up by King Willie, reasons that sometimes get overlooked. Willie does it all. Gives the world great music. Helps the world breathe easier. Feeds the world and helps farmers. And saves the world through buying the Abbott, Texas Methodist Church. He can speak out on any topic from poverty to the war in Iraq and, even though he might go counter to the opinions many country fans are expected to have, Willie gets only respect in response.
