Isn't it "interesting" how a site like youtube can actually change culture, and QUICKLY?
Yesterday morning there were 76k hits on the Faith CMA videos, but by afternoon there were 327k!
Faith's manager Gary Borman felt compelled to also issue a statement, "I've worked with Faith for many years now and the idea that she would ever insult or undermine another artist, let alone another human being's success is absolutely preposterous. Those who know her know that she's incapable of such actions. She was being playful while the nominations were being readand playful after."
Even the president of the CMA Board of Directors, Clarence Spalding, has released a statement: "There has been a lot of public discussion about Faith Hill's on-camera reaction during the announcement of the Female Vocalist of the Year Award. Having been there, I can assure you that Faith was in no way being disrespectful of Carrie Underwood or her accomplishments. It was a playful moment caught on camera that has been blown out of proportion and taken out of context. Faith has always shown the utmost respect for Country Music artists and the CMA Awards. This inadvertent moment does not reflect who she is as a performer or a respected member of this community."
Steve Holstein at Interprep has posted a link to TIM MCGRAW talking to WSIX, Nashville's Gerry House about the hubub over his wife.
Nashville Answer Man Neil Haislop was backstage at the time, saw it first hand:
" The reports that Faith Hill somehow disrespected Carrie Underwood as theFemale Vocalist award was given to Carrie is just wishful thinking by some media in search of scandal that never happened. Anybody that was watching Faith's face at the minute the award was announced saw what this reporter saw, playful mock expressiveness from somebody that was genuinely well-wishing Carrie Underwood for her big win. After all, Faith's career began much the same way, with hit records out ofthe box and a fast rise to stardom and awards, so she certainly understood how important Carrie¹s Horizon and Female vocalist wins are this early in her career. But, just in case anybody might believe that Faith, the consummate pro, (with a camera pointed at her) could possibly disrespect a fellow artist so publicly, Faith immediately issued this statement, "The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is
unimaginable to me. For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving FemaleVocalist of The Year."
