Ken Moultrie, Senior Director of Programming at Jones Radio Networks-Seattle (800.426.9082 Toll-Free - 206.508.8116 Direct - Web: www.jonesradio.com) is going around these days telling this story which hopefully motivates you to ask the time-honored A&O question next time you do some brainstorming ("that's great, but what ELSE could we do?"):
KM: My 8 year old daughter has a new thing. Radio Disney. It's on constantly around our house and in the car. If you have not spent time with Radio Disney, I recommend it. They totally get their target audience, and it's some of the most entertaining radio I've heard in a long time.
That said, a recent promotion on Radio Disney got me thinking about how important it is to put the 'sizzle' on every promotion we do. It's one of those things we all know, but often forget. So, Radio Disney is giving away a basic meet and greet with Jesse McCartney. Certainly a cool prize for a tween girl. But Disney isn't one to leave it at that. The meet and greet takes place at a mall, where the winner and Jesse get their photos taken inside a photo booth. But wait, theres more. After the meet and greet, Jesse signs the photo booth and it's delivered to the winners house!
No extra work on the part of the artist, no big million dollar expense, yet a simple meet and greet is taken to a whole new level.
So, what's the 'photo booth twist' on your next meet and greet or fly-away promotion?
'WILL RADIO BE PUSHED OUT OF THE CONNECTED CAR?" IS THE WRONG QUESTION FOR
