Beasley's Miami cluster has a new HDRadio secondary audio channel to 99.9 KISS COUNTRY named after Epic/Nashville’s Gretchen Wilson.
She cut liners for it, asking folks to try her station, which plays lots of southern rock (Hank Williams Jr., Charlie Daniels Band, The Allman Brothers, Montgomery Gentry, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Travis Tritt, Toby Keith, etc). And, of course, lots of "Politically Incorrect" Wilson and Muzik Mafia music too. WKIS PD Bob Barnett told R&R's Lon Helton yesterday that it's dedicated to “other musically inventive creative ‘outlaws’ of the format.”
Gretchen's sophomore LP, "All Jacked Up," releases today and after doing the "Today" show, she flies to Toronto to visit with Canadian media. Interestingly, the Billboard chart which is out this morning (dated 9/30/05) had the song "Politically Incorrect" from the album with Merle Haggard debuting at #58.
Mediabase monitors "All Jacked Up" still as the most played track by a mile, but other ones which appear to be getting spins today are "California Girls" and "Skoal Ring."

Jaye,
Kudo's to Bob for putting a new HD brand (Gretchen) on the air instead of a line extended version of the FM brand (KISS 99.9)
If HD is going to move radios off the shelf, it must offer something different from the AM/FM band. None of us ran out and bought FM converters to receive WLS, WABC, WFIL(in my case)and others. We bought them to hear "FM" stations that played by a different set of rules.
Congratulations to those who "get it".
