Radio Programming Ideas For Personalities and Programmers, Especially Country Radio Broadcasters.
JA says: "DUH!"
I agree, Jaye. "Duh" is the reaction most Country programmers (and our listeners, of course) would have. And especially coming from Brian Mansfield, who serves on the CMA board, the "Country is Cool/Red Hot" message may seem more than obvious. But let's not forget that there are still millions of Amercians that could be Country P3s or P2s, except that they remember a cheesier time in our not-so-distant past when, to them, Country was not much more than watered-down AC.Articles like Brian's, and the hoopla surrounding the upcoming CMA awards in NY, I believe help raise awareness for Country as it exists today. And while I'm not so naive as to believe the NY tastemakers and media gatekeepers will suddenly embrace our format, there's little doubt they will be writing about this "new phenomenon". The more ink and screen time our format gets in the months to come, the more opportunity we have to reach non-listeners, and maybe persuade them to give us a chance (or a second chance).Te rest, as they say, is up to us.Jim MurphyJones Radio Networks
