The openers were Loretta and Conway. George was upset at someone or something about the sound and walked off during soundcheck...returned to his bus and relaxed with some "cocktails". They said he was fuming mad.....

Fast forward to show time...Loretta wooed the sold out crowd...as did Conway. It came time for George to perform. He wasn't there....they went to his bus....but the bus was gone!! Headed back to Nashville. HA!

Like the pro that he was....Conway walked out on stage and said George had something come up...and then proceeded to play another 90 minute set....George Jones set.

Amazing times and stories in country music that make me love it more and more.Ritch Cassidy, KXKT/Omahahttp://www.thekat.com/main.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8927785.post-59604857721864405672013-04-27T06:41:15.913-07:002013-04-27T06:41:15.913-07:00When George was here last March in Topeka to play ...When George was here last March in Topeka to play at TPAC—we did a few on-site ticket stops… I did one of the remotes, and I had a listener stop by who told me the story about George coming to play Topeka in 1974, while his wife was pregnant. He had tickets for the two of them for the show. They got seated, George started singing, and his wife’s water broke.

He contemplated making her sit there and see the show (as he had been waiting for this for a while!) but took her to the hospital.

Now, he wanted to take her on the date they didn’t get to have way back when because of his first child being born. So we GAVE him a pair of tickets!Robb Rose, PD, KTPK/Country Legends 106.9, Topekahttp://www.countrylegends1069.com/noreply@blogger.com
